daviess Community Scholarships

  • Charles and Maxine Williams Scholarship ($5,000. Multiple scholarships may be awarded from this amount.)

    Graduating seniors of North Daviess High School planning to pursue a degree at an accredited 2- or 4-year educational institution or trade school. Applicants must have a minimum 2.75 cumulative grade point average (4.0 scale), demonstrate a strong work ethic, good citizenship and respectable moral character, and have financial need.

  • David K. Lynch Memorial Scholarship ($250)

    Graduating seniors of Washington High School, Washington Catholic High School, Barr-Reeve High School, or North Daviess High School who also attended Lena Dunn Elementary School. Applicants must have a minimum 2.5 cumulative grade point average (4.0 scale) and plan to attend a two- or four-year college or university in Indiana. Students who have received or have been named to receive full-tuition scholarships are not eligible for this award.

  • Derek Ray Arvin Memorial Scholarship ($1,000)

    Graduating seniors of Washington High School with a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average (4.0 scale).  Applicants must be an active member of a house of worship, a member of at least one varsity level IHSSA sport, and active in at least one extracurricular activity other than sports (e.g. Beta Club, Student Council, French Club, etc.).

  • Dwight Risley Scholarship ($22,000. Multiple scholarships may be awarded from this amount.)

    Graduating seniors of any Daviess County high school for tuition, books, and required fees of post-secondary education. Applicants must demonstrate financial need and good scholastic standing.

  • Fraternal Order of Police Washington Lodge 101 Scholarship ($900. Award will be paid upon completion of two semesters of college with a minimum 2.5 cumulative grade point average (4.0 scale) and documentation showing recipient’s continued studies in law enforcement or a related field.)

    Graduating seniors of any Daviess or Martin County high school pursuing post-secondary education in law enforcement or a related field (excluding corrections officers). Applicants must have a minimum, cumulative grade point average of 2.5 (4.0 scale).

  • Fred Walker, Jr. Journalism Scholarship ($1,500)

    Graduating seniors of Washington Catholic High School or Washington High School who plan to study journalism at Vincennes University, Vincennes, Indiana.  Applicants must demonstrate financial need and have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0 (4.0 scale).

  • GPC Washington Employees Scholarship ($3,000. Multiple scholarships may be awarded from this amount.)

    Applicants must be dependents of employees (as defined by dependent’s eligibility for the company’s health insurance plan) who have completed at least six months of employment with Kent–Grain Processing Corporation in Washington, Indiana. Applicants must have a minimum, cumulative grade point average of 2.0 (on a 4.0 scale) and be planning to pursue post-secondary education at any accredited 2- or 4-year educational institution or trade school. Past recipients of the scholarship may reapply; however, renewal awards are not guaranteed. Students who have received or have been named to receive full-tuition scholarships are not eligible for this award.

  • Jay Lampton Memorial Scholarship ($400)

    Graduating seniors of any high school served by the Community Foundation Alliance (which includes high schools located in the Indiana counties of Daviess, Gibson, Knox, Perry, Pike, Posey, Spencer, Vanderburgh, and Warrick) with a 2.0 cumulative grade point average (4.0 scale) and who have been enrolled in technology courses during his or her high school education. Applicants must demonstrate financial need and be planning to pursue post-secondary education at the Lincoln College of Technology (formerly Nashville Auto Diesel College) or another institution of higher education seeking a degree in auto mechanics.

  • Jo Ann Shawhan Memorial Scholarship ($2,000)

    Graduating seniors of any Daviess County high school or Daviess County residents pursuing a degree in nursing at Vincennes University.

  • John R. Chapman Scholarship ($500)

    Graduating seniors of Washington Community High School or North Daviess High School planning to pursue post-secondary education at an accredited college or university majoring in a physical science such as astronomy, chemistry, geology, mineralogy, meteorology, or physics. Applicants must rank in the upper third of their graduating class.

  • Lawrell Ray Hilgeman Memorial Scholarship ($900)

    Applicants must be pursuing a post-secondary degree at any accredited college, university, or vocational institution and have been involved in productions featured at the Veale Creek Theatre in Washington, Indiana.  Although it is desired that applicants plan to study performing arts at an accredited educational institution, other majors may be considered. If there are an insufficient number of applicants in a given year, applications will be accepted from performing arts students who have not had prior involvement with the Veale Creek Theatre.

  • Lenore Overholser Memorial Scholarship ($500)

    Graduating seniors of North Daviess High School with a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average (4.0 scale) majoring in education at any accredited college or university. Applicants must be involved in extra-curricular activities outside the classroom and/ or community service.

  • Leonidas (Lon) R. Horrall Memorial Scholarship ($500)

    Graduating seniors of any Daviess County high school or Daviess County residents who are considered non-traditional students. Applicants must have a minimum 2.7 cumulative grade point average (4.0 scale) and a scholastic rank in the upper third of their graduating class. A non-traditional student is defined as an individual who delayed his or her enrollment in postsecondary education after graduating from high school. Applicants must have participated in 4-H for at least four years and be planning to pursue a degree in the field of agri-business (such as farming, agricultural sales, agricultural research, veterinary science, agronomy, animal science, or related fields) at Vincennes University. In the event there are no applicants that meet the agri-business criteria, the scholarship opportunity will be made available to students planning to pursue an ASN or BSN degree in nursing at Vincennes University. Past recipients of the scholarship may reapply; however, renewal awards are not guaranteed. Students must maintain a 2.7 GPA while receiving the nursing scholarship.

  • Marilyn L. Wallace Scholarship ($500)

    Graduating seniors of North Daviess High School who plan to pursue post-secondary education in health or health-related fields. Students who have received or have been named to receive full-tuition scholarships are not eligible for this award.

  • McCall Family Teachers Scholarship ($1,500)

    Graduates of North Daviess High School who are pursuing a career in teaching, with an emphasis in fine arts or elementary education.

  • McKinley Vance Agri-Business Scholarship ($2,000. Multiple scholarships may be awarded from this amount.)

    Graduating seniors of any Daviess County high school with a scholastic rank in the upper third of their class. Applicants must have participated in 4-H for at least four years and be enrolled in a bachelor's degree program at a college or university pursuing a degree in the field of agriculture (such as farming, agricultural sales, agricultural research, veterinary science, agronomy, animal science, or related fields). Past recipients may reapply; however, renewal awards are not guaranteed.

  • Peoples Bank/German American Bancorp Scholarship ($500)

    Graduating seniors of any Daviess County high school with a 3.0 cumulative grade point average (4.0 scale).  Applicants must be planning to major in a business related course of study at any accredited college or university.

  • Ray L. Angerer Memorial Scholarship ($500)

    Applicants must be communicant members of Westminster Presbyterian Church of Washington, Indiana, pursuing a post-secondary degree at any accredited college, university, or vocational institution. Applicants may be graduating high school seniors, current college students, or non-traditional students. Past recipients may reapply; however, renewal awards are not guaranteed.

  • Ronald Frette and Ann Frette 4-H Scholarship (Up to $1,500. Multiple scholarships may be awarded from this amount.)

    Daviess County residents who are graduates of a Daviess County high school and pursuing post-secondary undergraduate studies or training. Applicants must have participated in a Daviess County 4-H program for at least five years, completed at least two 4-H projects during each of those years, and maintained a minimum 2.5 cumulative grade point average (4.0 scale) during high school. Applicants must also demonstrate personal interest in and positive attitude toward continuing their education and demonstrate good moral character.

  • Ronald Todd Beasley Memorial Scholarship ($1,500)

    Graduating seniors of North Daviess High School who have been accepted into an accredited 2- or 4-year educational institution.  Applicants must demonstrate qualities associated with a good moral character and respectable citizenship, including a cooperative attitude, respect for authority figures, responsibility and dependability, honesty, and friendliness.

  • Sheldon Matthew Smith Memorial Scholarship ($350 to be awarded to one Washington High School senior and one Washington Catholic High School senior.)

    Graduating seniors of Washington High School and Washington Catholic High School planning to pursue a two- or four-year college or vocational school degree in writing (literature, not journalism), computer graphics, computer game design, computer art design, or computer animation, computer programming, and/or web design at an accredited institution.

  • Steven L. Gines College Scholarship ($250)

    Graduating seniors of Washington High School with a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average (4.0 scale) pursuing post-secondary education at any accredited college or university.  Applicants must have completed college preparatory courses in high school upon graduation and been involved in the arts (e.g. painting, drawing, music, piano, school plays, etc.).

  • William and Mary Summers Memorial Scholarship ($500)

    Graduating seniors of Washington High School planning full-time enrollment at Vincennes University. Although preference will be given to students majoring in Business or Education, applications will be accepted from students majoring in any subject.

Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship for daviess County

Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship (full tuition and required fees)

Be a resident of Daviess County, Indiana; be a graduate of an accredited Daviess County or Indiana high school or academy by June 2018; have a minimum 1220 SAT score or a minimum ACT score of 25; be available for an interview with the scholarship committee if selected as a finalist; apply for the scholarship in only one county.
