Foundation Accepting Applications For Dorothy Rapp Music Scholarship

Vanderburgh County, Indiana  The Vanderburgh Community Foundation has extended the deadline for applications for the. Applications are now due April 30, 2019. The scholarship application should b accessed and completed online here.

The Dorothy Rapp Music Scholarship was created by the First Baptist Church of Evansville in honor of Robert and Dorothy Rapp to assist young people with their pursuit of education or development of music skills consistent with Christian principles. Robert Rapp served as the Director of Choral Music at the University of Evansville from 1956 through 1985. He also served as the Choral Director for the Evansville Philharmonic Orchestra and was a Minister of Music at the First Baptist Church. Dorothy Rapp, a classically trained soprano soloist, along with her husband and daughter, introduced a wide repertoire of sacred vocal music to Evansville audiences.

Active members of any Baptist church in Evansville, Indiana who meet the eligibility requirements are welcome to apply. Applicants must plan to pursue education or development of music skills consistent with Christian principles and lifestyle for the furtherance of church music. Past recipients may reapply; however, renewal awards are not guaranteed.
