posey Community Scholarships

  • Ben Dickhaut Memorial 4-H and FFA Scholarship ($4,800)

    Graduating high school seniors who are residents of Posey County, Indiana, planning to attend a two- or four-year accredited institution of higher education or technical school. Applicants must have participated as a member of 4-H for five years and/or FFA for two years.

  • Bobby Rogge Memorial Scholarship ($200)

    Graduating seniors of any Posey County high school planning to attend a two- or four-year institution or accredited technical school.

  • Byron and Lila Brenton Memorial Scholarship ($2,500)

    Graduating seniors of North Posey High School with a minimum 2.5 grade point average (4.0 scale) in core subjects (English, math, social studies, and science) planning to attend any two-year or four-year post-secondary accredited school. Although education is the preferred course of study, other majors will be considered.

  • Cash Family Scholarship ($500)

    Graduating seniors of Mt. Vernon High School with a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average (4.0 scale) planning to pursue a healthcare degree (e.g. medicine, nursing, physical therapy, occupational therapy) at any accredited college or university.

  • CountryMark Technical Trade Scholarship (Up to $4,500)

    Residents of Posey County, Indiana, who are graduating seniors of an accredited high school and have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.75 (4.0 scale). Applicants must be planning to pursue a degree in electrical maintenance, electronics and computer technology, mechanical maintenance, or welding at the Evansville campus of either Ivy Tech Community College or ITT Technical Institute.

  • Craig Andrew Spradley Memorial Scholarship ($1,000)

    Graduating seniors of North Posey High School with a minimum 2.5 cumulative grade point average (4.0 scale) planning to attend a two- or four-year college, university or technical school. Applicants must demonstrate financial need.

  • George and Peggy Rapp Scholarship ($1,000)

    Graduating seniors of North Posey High School who live in Harmony Township.

  • Gillenwater Scholarship (College Scholarship Award)  ($1,000)

    Graduating high school seniors of any Posey County high school enrolled or planning to enroll in a full-time course of study leading to a baccalaureate degree at an accredited four-year degree granting institution. Applicants must be in the upper third of their high school senior class.

  • Gillenwater Scholarship (Junior College or State-Supported Technical College Scholarship Award) ($500)

    Graduating high school seniors of any Posey County high school enrolled or planning to enroll in a full-time course of study leading to a two-year degree or certificate at an accredited junior college or State-supported technical college.

  • Greater Evansville USBCA Scholarship ($1,000)

    Applicants must have been members of the Greater Evansville USBCA for two of the past four years, or their children, who have a minimum 2.0 cumulative grade point average (4.0 scale) and attend high school in Posey, Vanderburgh, or Warrick counties.

  • Herb and Betty Curry Scholarship ($1,000)

    Graduating seniors of any Posey County high school pursuing post-secondary education in music (vocal or instrumental), music education, or the performing arts. Applicants must have a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average (4.0 scale).

  • James W. Moore Scholarship ($400)

    Graduating seniors of Mt. Vernon High School pursuing post-secondary education in industrial arts.

  • Jay Lampton Memorial Scholarship ($500)

    Graduating seniors of any high school served by the Community Foundation Alliance (which includes high schools located in the Indiana counties of Daviess, Gibson, Knox, Perry, Pike, Posey, Spencer, Vanderburgh, and Warrick) with a 2.0 cumulative grade point average (4.0 scale) and who have been enrolled in technology courses during his or her high school education. Applicants must demonstrate financial need and be planning to pursue post-secondary education at the Lincoln College of Technology (formerly Nashville Auto Diesel College) or another institution of higher education seeking a degree in auto mechanics.

  • Katie Kanowsky Memorial Scholarship ($1,000)

    Graduating seniors of North Posey High School with a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.5 (4.0 scale). Applicants must be planning to pursue a degree at Murray State University upon high school graduation.

  • Kevin Dillon North Posey Memorial Scholarship (Not awarding during the 2016-2017 school year.)

    Graduating seniors of North Posey High School planning to pursue post-secondary education at any accredited college, university or technical/vocational school.

  • Kiwanis Memorial Scholarship ($1,000)

    Graduating seniors of Mt. Vernon High School who have been members of the Mt. Vernon High School Key Club for a minimum of one year and who are pursuing post-secondary education at a college, university or technical school. Applicants must demonstrate excellence in academic achievement, initiative, dependability, leadership, and service to the Mt. Vernon High School Key Club and to the community.

  • Mac McCutchan Memorial Scholarship ($500)

    Graduating seniors of any Posey County high school enrolled in a two- or four-year degree program in agriculture and/or family and consumer services. Applicants must have a minimum 2.5 cumulative grade point average (4.0 scale) and must have participated as a member of 4-H for five years and/or FFA for three years.

  • Margaret Corbin Wathen Scholarship ($500)

    Graduating seniors of any Posey County high school planning to pursue a major in post-secondary music or music education.

  • North Star Scholarship ($2,000 to the renewal candidate only.)

    Graduating seniors of North Posey High School with a minimum 3.0 grade point average planning to attend any accredited college or university. Applicants must demonstrate great financial need.

  • Oscar and Helen Uebelhack Agriculture Scholarship ($500)

    Graduating seniors of Mt. Vernon High School pursuing post-secondary education in agriculture or animal sciences. Applicants must have a minimum 2.5 cumulative grade point average (4.0 scale) or above.

  • Posey County Co-op Scholarship ($1,800)

    Graduating high school seniors who are residents of Posey County, Indiana, with a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.75 (on a 4.0 scale).  Applicants must be planning to pursue post-secondary education in agriculture, electrical maintenance, electronics and computer technology, mechanical maintenance, or welding at any accredited college, university or technical/vocational school.

  • Riedford Health Professions Scholarship ($500)

    Graduating seniors of Mt. Vernon High School with a minimum 3.2 cumulative grade point average (4.0 scale) pursuing a two- or four-year degree at any accredited college or university in Indiana, Western Kentucky (which offers in-state tuition to Indiana residents) or Wabash Valley College in Southeastern Illinois.  Applicants must be planning to pursue a major course of study in healthcare including, but not limited to, nursing, pre-medicine, occupational therapy, physical therapy, respiratory therapy, pre-dentistry, or pre-optometry.

  • Robby Wilson Memorial Scholarship ($200)

    Graduating seniors of North Posey High School with a minimum 2.5 grade point average (4.0 scale) in core subjects of English, math, social studies, and science with plans to attend any two- or four-year degree-granting institution.  Selection will be based on financial need, level of involvement in community service and/or athletics, and hardship situations.  Preference will be given to students planning to major in world history, business, foreign language, or areas related to writing and to students who live in Harmony Township.

  • Rosella and Doyle Oursler Scholarship ($1,500)

    Graduating seniors of North Posey High School who are residents of Smith Township, Indiana, and who are pursuing post-secondary education (four-year, two-year, or technical college). Applicants must have a minimum 2.5 cumulative grade point average (4.0 scale).

  • SABIC Innovative Plastics Scholarship ($1,000)

    Graduating seniors of any high school located in the United States who are the natural or adopted children or legal dependents of active employees of the SABIC Innovative Plastics facility located in Mt. Vernon, Indiana. Applicants must have a 2.75 cumulative grade point average (4.0 scale) and be planning post-secondary education at any accredited U.S. college, university, or vocational/technical school. If there are an insufficient number of employees' children applying for the scholarship in any given year, the scholarship opportunity will be made available to Mt. Vernon High School graduating seniors who satisfy the remaining criteria.

  • Southwestern Indiana Master Gardener Association Scholarship ($2,000)

    Graduating seniors or graduates of any high school located in Gibson, Posey, Vanderburgh, or Warrick counties who are planning full-time enrollment at an accredited college or university. Applicants must have a minimum 2.65 cumulative grade point average (4.0 scale) or equivalent and be planning to major in horticulture, botany, or landscape architecture or a major that has primary focus in horticulture, botany, or landscape architecture. Past recipients of the scholarship may reapply; however, renewal awards are not guaranteed.

  • Whitney Wehr Memorial Scholarship ($1,500)

    Graduating seniors of Mt. Vernon High School pursuing a degree at any accredited educational institution, with preference given to applicants pursuing a degree in education.

  • William H. Keck Leadership Scholarship ($1,200)

    Graduating seniors of Mt. Vernon High School planning full-time enrollment in a four-year program at Indiana University-Bloomington.

Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship for posey County

Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship (full tuition and required fees)

Be a resident of Posey County, Indiana; be a graduate of an accredited Posey County or Indiana high school or academy by June 2018; demonstrate high academic achievement in completed course work with at least a 3.5 cumulative grade point average (4.0 scale); have either a minimum SAT math and evidence based reading and writing composite score of 1220 or a minimum ACT score of 25; have completed the college prep curriculum in high school upon graduation; demonstrate commitment to school activities, community service, and/or employment; be available for an interview with the scholarship committee if selected as a finalist; apply for the scholarship in only one county.
