Annual renewable scholarship created by William Gillenwater III to encourage Posey County high school students to further their education, to recognize academic achievement of those graduating from high school and continuing their education, and to motivate recipients to achieve maximum scholastic and vocational potential.
Graduating high school seniors of any Posey County high school enrolled or planning to enroll in a full-time course of study leading to a baccalaureate degree at an accredited four-year degree granting institution. Applicants must be in the upper third of their high school senior class.
Selection will be based on scholastic record, evidence of leadership, career plans and objectives, and the required essay.

May be renewable for consecutive sophomore, junior and senior years. Renewal applications may be considered provided recipient has maintained full-time status and a minimum 2.5 cumulative grade point average (4.0 scale) during the freshman and ensuing years.
