Annual renewable scholarship created by William Gillenwater III to encourage Posey County high school students to further their education, to recognize academic achievement of those graduating from high school and continuing their education, and to motivate recipients to achieve maximum scholastic and vocational potential.
Graduating high school seniors of any Posey County high school enrolled or planning to enroll in a full-time course of study leading to a two-year degree or certificate at an accredited junior college or State-supported technical college.
Selection will be based on scholastic record, evidence of leadership, career plans and objectives, and the required essay.
- Essay: Statement of Aspirations and Educational Goals (not to exceed two typewritten, double-spaced pages).

May be renewable for a second year. Renewal applications may be considered provided recipient has maintained full-time status and a minimum 2.5 cumulative grade point average (4.0 scale) during the college freshman year.
