An annual scholarship created by Georgianne and Jim Parshall in loving memory of Georgianne’s mother, Norma Briner Byrne. Norma grew up in Hazleton before settling in Princeton after her marriage to Patrick Byrne and received her nursing degrees from the University of Evansville and Indiana State University. She enjoyed her years as a nurse in Princeton Community Schools.
Graduating seniors of Princeton Community High School planning to attend an accredited college or university to pursue a bachelor’s degree in nursing or similar program related to healthcare.
Selection will be based on academic achievement with a passion for learning as demonstrated by GPA and academic awards and honors, compassion to help others as demonstrated through volunteer service to school and/or the community, and willingness to step out and lead as demonstrated through extra-curricular, community, or work activities.
- A short personal statement (500 words or less) describing how the applicant’s outstanding attributes and talents (including achievements, awards, and honors), service to school and/or the community, extra-curricular and leadership activities, and work experience (paid or volunteer) will help realize their current career goals and plans.
