Warrick County Community Foundation Implementation Grant Update

Overview

The Lilly Endowment Inc.’s Community Leadership Implementation Grant Opportunity in Warrick County is focused on addressing concerns related to mental health and substance abuse.   The Warrick County Community Foundation will be partnering with the Warrick County School Corporation to support the expansion of Social Emotional Learning (SEL) framework into every school.  This project includes providing additional staff members to support the program, training of all school district employees in the SEL theories and framework, creation of designated regulation areas in each school.  The project will also include working with allied partners in the community to provide training opportunities for parents and other community stakeholders and further enhance the community’s ability to recognize and respond appropriately when someone is exhibiting behavioral or mental health challenges.

Activity Update

During the fall semester of 2020, the Warrick County School Corporation has initiated Social Emotional Learning programming in all of their elementary schools.   Nine of the 10 elementary schools have established regulation areas, and two additional Social Emotional Behavioral Assistants have been hired.
