(Vanderburgh County, Indiana) At their annual meeting on November 6, donors to the Women’s Fund of the Vanderburgh Community Foundation gathered at the Holiday Inn Airport to select the 2019 recipients of two $35,000 impact grants.
Decisions on this year’s grants were made by vote of the Women’s Fund membership. Members selected one organization to receive a $35,000 grant for a program and one organization to receive a $35,000 grant for a capital project. In addition, members awarded general support grants to four charitable partners as runner up awards.
In the program category, Ozanam Family Shelter was awarded a $35,000 grant for their Effectively Housing the Homeless program. In addition, Easter Seals Rehabilitation Center and Parenting Time Center received $5,000 grants for general support.
In the project category, Aurora was awarded a $35,000 grant for their Homeless Outreach project. Catholic Charities and the Deaconess Foundation also received $5,000 general support grants.
The Women’s Fund was established in 2007 when a group of area women came together with the goal of improving the quality of life in Vanderburgh County by pooling their resources to forever provide funding for charitable initiatives.
Since it was formed, the Women’s Fund has awarded grants totaling $991,000 to organizations serving local families. Past impact grant recipients include: Albion Fellows Bacon Center, Ark Crisis Child Care Center, Aurora, Boys and Girls Club, Evansville Christian Life Center, Holly’s House, House of Bread and Peace, Lampion Center, Ozanam Family Shelter, Patchwork Central, Potter’s Wheel, St. Vincent Early Learning Center, United Caring Services, United Methodist Youth Home, Vanderburgh County CASA, Youth First, Youth Resources and the YWCA.
The Women’s Fund of Vanderburgh County is a fund of the Vanderburgh Community Foundation.
